SMC Purpose/Objectives

The SMC of Tri-Cities was organized in an effort to improve the sales and marketing techniques of those who represent or work in the home building industry. SMC of Tri-Cities is dedicated to maintaining a high level of professionalism through continuing education and the exchange of ideas.

Education Committee—To provide continuing education for persons involved in the SMC.

Promotions/Membership Committee—To promote professional standards and ethical practices among builders and sales and marketing professionals. To provide a line of communication from the consumer to professional builders. To provide a marketing intelligence network among members. To assist HBA, where requested, in developing public relations programs related to the image of the building industry and the benefits of new homes.

Recognition and Awards Committee—To recognize and reward marketing professionals in our industry.

Attending Gretchen Beck, Kelly Farrington, Mike Tomlinson, Marchell Mascheck, Katie Dovalle (for Rick Poletski) and Reneé Brooks

Financial Review

$16,675.07 balance, but this does not include costs/income from the Builders Forum (which probably cost close to $1000).

Membership Update

118 Members to date—which is five more than last month.

Chairman Report (Gretchen)

Gretchen encouraged everyone to attend the next NSMC Call-In Conference. It is Wednesday, April 18th at 11am and is on increasing membership. Reneé will not be here, but anyone that is interested in being on the call can meet at the HBA office to call in.

We still need to be working on sponsorships as well!

Education Committee

April Education Class is scheduled – PJ Roy is teaching a Buyer Brokerage Class at the HBA on April 26th. Only a few people are signed up.

Membership/Promotions Committee

Rick has Katie working on invitations for Oktoberfest.

Builders Forum went well, though not as many attendees as we had hoped. Food was great and builders and Brightweb Marketing all had their chances to address the group.

The next event is the Real Tour on May 9th (there will be no SMC Board meeting as a result). But boards at 8:45 am and departs at 9am sharp! Be sure to get your builder signed up to show a house, or sign up as a passenger to make sure you have a seat!

After that we have our national speaker, Melinda Brody, on June 13th. It will be a breakfast meeting on the 5 Star Selling Series. Stoneridge is available for $300, then we’ll go with Country Gentleman for catering. We’ll start it at 8am—it will run until 10am (or a little after. Keep food at the $10 range and then charge $20 for SMC members and $30 for non-SMC members. Reneé will ask Alison to work on a flyer.

SMC Membership Packets (Gretchen)

May is NSMC Membership Month – so we will wait until then to go around to all of the firms. If you recruit 5 new SMC members in May you get a $25 American Express gift card; recruiting 6 new members also gets you entered in a drawing. There are also several other contests. Double spike points for new members in the month of May. We drew names of the firms that the SMC Board members will be assigned to – each Board member should call the office(s) they are assigned and ask to do a short presentation at their May Sales Meeting. Take the membership packets and extra SMC registration forms and start recruiting. Assignments are:

Mike – Re/Max

Kelly – Windermere and Century 21

Marchell – CBAR and Markel

Rick – Prudential and SK Real Estate

Gretchen – ERA and Progressive

LouAnne – Real Estate Firm
