Membership Update

115 Members to date. Gretchen and Renee will be meeting this week to finalize the membership packets that were discussed in the January 2007 meeting.

MAME Update

MAME Awards went very well with XXX attending. Final financials will be presented in the March meeting. Tri-City Herald published the Judged Award Winners in the Sunday, February 4th issue. It was discussed if Individual Achievement Awards would be included in future MAME Awards. Marchell mentioned these individual awards were to bring in additional interest to the awards show and now that MAME has gained support and participation, maybe they should excluded. This would also allow for a more in depth emphasis on the judged awards. Rick voiced his concerns that many of the attendees at the awards show were the individual achievers and its important to keep this component of the show. Marchell would like to get the 2007 entries started in May.

Education Update

Wayne presented the opportunity of partnering with the Association of Realtors for educational opportunities. However, SMC education courses will still work hand in hand with BIAW to present the best opportunity to the membership. It was discussed that Wayne would move forward in looking into the possibilities of a local sales and marketing class offered by the Association of Realtors as well as one class with BIAW. It was asked by Marchell that we look into offering a CAPS (Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist) class so members could work towards gaining their CAPS designation. Wayne is also moving forward on the possibilities of adding Real Estate Clock Hours to the MICE program. No education class will be offered in February as all BIAW instructors were unavailable.

Membership/Promotions Update

Rick and Gretchen will be meeting next week to go over historical and future membership/promotions events, possibilities, etc. Rick mentioned the possibility of supplying the membership with a monthly housing market update. This report could include permits, sales, average home prices, etc. The March General Membership Meeting was also discussed. A Builder’s Forum where builders and their representatives could take 3-5 minutes to address the membership and promote their company and/or product was decided upon. This would take place on March 21st at 8:00am, place TBD. $10 cost includes breakfast and option to speak about your builder/company. Gretchen also would like to invite Network Tasks to present a 10-15 minute presentation on website marketing tips. (It was decided after the meeting that this event due to future events would take place in the evening and during the last week of March.) Gretchen, Rick and Kelly will meet next week to work out all the necessary details for the March GMM.

Sponsorships

SMC Sponsorships total $5,250 for 2007. Motion passed unanimously— Sponsorships will not be prorated, allowing for a full 12 month sponsorship affective the day SMC receives the sponsorship form. Mike asked for a list of members to contact for sponsorship support. Board asked to keep promoting sponsorship opportunities as we have only $4,750 to go until our 2007 goal is met.
